How it works

If you have a plastic bumper on your car, you know that it doesn't take much to damage it. Light contact with almost anything can cause scratches, dents and even rips.

That's the bad news. The good news is that plastic bumpers can be repaired fairly easily when you trust the job to BumperTech.

Most bumpers will be restored back to pre-accident condition within 2-3 hours, no need to worry about insurance claims.

Bumpertech will save you time and money on minor paint and collision repairs.

How It's Done

First, we'll assess the damage and determine what's needed to repair it. Then, we'll remove any paint transfer using a rubbing compound or a solvent. If the only damage is paint transfer, that's all that will be needed and your plastic bumper will look as good as new in no time.

If the bumper is dented, a bit more work will be needed but the process won't be as difficult as it would be with a metal bumper. Our technicians have years of experience in this type of repair, and are well-versed in plastic welding techniques. We do urge you, though, to contact BumperTech as soon as you notice the damage. This is because car bumpers, whether plastic or metal, can develop what is known as "shape memory," making repairs a bit more difficult if neglected. Most of the time, we won't even have to remove your bumper. We can tap or push out the dents while the bumper is still on the vehicle, and if necessary, use plastic welding compounds and fillers to correct the problem.

Finally, we'll re-paint your bumper. We use 3M abrasive materials to sand the affected area, follow it with quality plastic primers that fill in any small cracks or chipped areas, and then repaint using DuPont Mini System 155 paints and Chromaclear clear coat. The DuPont matching system allows us to achieve excellent matching results even on older vehicles where the paint may have faded over time. For more information - read our Bumper Spray Painting Article.
